4000 BC க்கு முன்னர் வரலாற்றில் முதல் நீர் வடிகால் அமைப்பாகக் கருதப்படும் கழிவுநீர் மற்றும் மழைநீர் வலையமைப்பாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்ட மட்பாண்டக் குழாய்களை  பிரிட்டிஷ் தொல்பொருள் ஆராய்ச்சியாளர் லியானார்ட் வூலி மற்றும் அவரது மனைவி கேத்தரின் 1930 இல் கண்டுபிடித்துள்ளனர்..
